About Area - Mitte

This landmark of German unity is located right next to the seat of the German Federal Government in the Reichstag and is the gateway to the large Tiergarten with the Siegessäule.


The change that has shaped Berlin since the Berlin wall came down is most visible directly above and below the Tiergarten. In the north, a new traffic intersection developed with the Berlin main train station. South of the Tiergarten, around the Potsdamer Platz and the Sony Center, a new, highly modern city quarter and the political and economic center of the city has developed.
