About Life in Berlin Mitte
Enjoy the variety of the international scene, trendy start-ups and the spirit of young, urban creativity. As you can assume from the name, the district Mitte is located in the heart of Berlin. The Brandenburger Gate, the Television Tower and Alexanderplatz, which have been known around the world for many years as symbols of Berlin, are all found in Mitte. But Mitte doesn’t just attract tourists. The Berlin art and culture scene is widespread here and lures in Expats from all over the world searching for long term rentals in the city centre. Countless art galleries, trendy boutiques and the best restaurants in the city are found between the Hackescher yards and Rosenthaler Platz. Many visitors choose this district as a starting point for exploring the city. The heart of the Berlin museum landscape is without a doubt the museum island between the River Spree and the Kupfergraben. Furthermore, theatre and historical buildings, such as the Berlin Ensemble, the Friedrichstadt-Palast, the Deutsche Dom or the Schauspielhaus are easy to find here.
Berlin Mitte is also a place where you can find many typical signs of the former GDR. Around Alexanderplatz the socialist prefabricated houses paint the picture of the city, whilst the Television Tower symbolises the division and competition between the former East and West Berlin.
